University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) before the this year’s end looks to begin complex cosmetic surgeries.
According to Prof. Abdulwaheed Olatinwo, Chief Medical Director of UITH, the development apart from putting the institution on the road map of excellence would reduce medical tourism.
Olatinwo spoke yesterday at the hospital while supervising the discharge of three patients who had undergone open-heart surgeries (OHS).
The healthy looking patients, Mohammed Ibrahim (three years), Mohammed Sambo (four) and David Adeyemi (five) were later released to their happy parents. “The UITH intends to make itself a one-stop hospital in line with the vision of its founding fathers. Few months ago, we carried out the first renal transplant on a male patient. Besides, last year we conducted the first OHS on two female patients who are bubbling well today. Today, three other patients of the UITH who 10 days age passed through OHS are going home.
