Rio Olympics: Team Nigeria | Day 13 review (Thursday, August 18)

Several  medal hopes were dashed as Team Nigeria athletes crashed out of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Day 13.

Medal hopeful, Stephen Mozia did not qualify for the final of Men’s Shot Put event after finishing 15th in group A and 28th overall with a mark of 18.98m.

In High Jump event, Doreen Amata finished 13th in her group and 27th overall after clearing her best height of 1.89m.

Blessing Oborodudu lost her women’s Wrestling Freestyle 63 kg quarterfinal match to Mongolia’s Battsetseg Soronzonbold, who won with a Class points of 3-1.

In 53kg Wrestlign Freestyle, Nigeria’s Odunayo Adekuoroye lost to Sofia Magdalena Mattsson of Sweden.

The only success story came from the women’s 4x100m relay where the quartet of Blessing Okagbare, Agnes Osazuwa, Gloria Asumnu and Jennifer Madu qualified for the final on Friday.
