President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in Abuja met with members of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN), where critical issues of national value were discussed.
Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, told State House correspondents after the closed-door meeting that the Federal Government would continue to partner with the media in ensuring speedy progress of the country.
He said: “You know that these are the key stakeholders in the Nigerian Project. The media and the government must work together because they have a lot in common.
“So, from time to time, there should be meetings like this between government and media.“The media, through the executives of the NPAN, brought up some key issues affecting the industry, affecting the country.’’
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported Shehu as saying the President had solicited for the support of the media and pledged to look into issues raised by members of the NPAN during the meeting.
The members of NPAN, which is a professional body concerned with the regulation of journalism in Nigeria,
was led by its National President, Mr. Nduka Obaigbena.
