Paul Pogba chose not to discuss speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United when he was questioned by a fan in New York on Monday.

The Juventus midfielder is reportedly on the verge of returning to Old Trafford as part of a world-record transfer, having left for Turin four years ago.

Pogba has been on holiday in the United States following his efforts with France at this summer’s European Championships and touched down at JFK International Airport on Monday night, where he was questioned by Instagram user Bennee Gee.

“Just bumped into the £100 million man @paulpogba on the same flight as me into NYC,” Gee wrote in a caption for a picture of the pair.

“Of course I asked if the man utd rumors were true but he just gave me a small smile and walked away…. Fingers crossed I guess.”

Earlier on Monday, Pogba had posted a picture of himself on his official Instagram account while waiting for a delayed flight and “thinking of football”.

Pogba also dropped hints regarding his future on Saturday in a pair of mischievous Instagram posts from Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

“Breaking news: Pogba undergoes medical check in Universal Studios amusement park California,” the caption on one of his posts read.

The 23-year-old was also pictured signing a supporter’s United shirt with ‘Pogba 6’ printed on the back at the weekend.

It is expected that United pay a world-record transfer fee of around £100m for Pogba, who left Old Trafford for Juventus in 2012.

Juventus paid just £800,000 in compensation at the time and Pogba has since developed into one of world football’s most talented midfielders.
