Ninety houses submerged, millions Naira in property lost in Makurdi flood

Over ninety houses in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, have been submerged and property worth millions of Naira destroyed following an eight hour rainfall that left most parts of the town flooded.

Affected were residential buildings, churches, schools, business places and hotels which were swept away.
Areas worst hit by the devastation included, Wadata Rice Mill, Daniel Amokachi lane, opposite the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Demekpe, Agbohoul village, Akpehe vilage, opposite Zone 4 Police Headquarters and Kashio village along Makurdi-Otukpo road.

When media personnel visited some of the affected areas, residents were seen making frantic efforts to salvage some of their property from the flood while others were trying to relocate from their places.
