Like every other young married lady, Mrs. Jacinta Okpokwu had her own plans about the future, but terminal sickness is at the verge of changing it. The 28-year-old lady, who hails from Aku in Igbo-Etiti Local Council of Enugu State, is battling to stay alive because of acute chronic kidney disease and Systemic Lupus Erythermatosus (SLE) attack.
Jacinta, who is a graduate of Computer Science, got married in June 2015 to Corporal Okechukwu Okpokwu at the completion her National Youth Service Corps NYSC).
Symptoms of Lupus include joint pains, chest pain, weight loss or gain, hair loss, memory loss, mouth sores, general body weakness. Complications from it may lead to kidney failure, miscarriage, destruction of red blood cells, and fluid around the heart and lungs, which may damage them.
Jacinta’s kidneys have been affected by the disease since November 2015 and she has been battling to stay alive. C “We have made contact with a hospital in India and the estimate given to us for the operation is about N8 million as at last week, excluding hotel bills and airfare..”
