I anointed Obasanjo for 1999 presidency – Bishop Wale Oke

Prominent Ibadan cleric, Bishop Wale Oke has said that he anointed former president, Olusegun Obasanjo to occupy Nigeria’s number one office in 1999.

According to Bishop Oke, who heads the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, the incident occurred in his Abeokuta, Ogun State home on God’s instruction.

The cleric made the comments while speaking to journalists in Ibadan, Oyo State in commemoration of his 60th birthday, The Nation reports.

“The man said: ‘No. What did I forget at the State House that I want to go back for?’ But he did not prevent me from anointing him, as directed by God. The rest is history today,” Bishop Oke said.

Obasanjo ruled Nigeria as a democratically elected president from 1999 to 2007. He had earlier served twice as Head of State from February 1976 to October 1979.
