EU Referendum: Brits abroad stranded after Brexit vote as holiday makers can’t exchange or withdraw their money

British people abroad are already facing the consequences of the Brexit vote after holiday makers in Greece were unable to withdraw money.

With the pound in free fall, the European Central Bank have been unable to set and exchange rate to change currency.

One such person, Matt Roony, wrote on twitter: “It’s beginning already! We’re in Greece, no cash exchange & no cash machine withdrawals for Brits. Great #brexitfail”

He posted a picture of a sign at the Blue Lagoon Resort, where he is staying, which informed customers that they would be unable to exchange pound sterling due to the vote.

It read: “Dear guests, we would like to inform you that we cannot exchange British or Scottish Pounds at the moment, as we do not have an official exchange rate from the central bank. Thank you for your understanding!”
